Esther E. Segal (nee Baranowski)

Esther E. Segal, age 94, of Valparaiso, IN; formerly of Chicago, Dolton, and Monee, IL passed away January 4, 2026 in Valparaiso. She was born November 5, 1931 to Vincent and Sophie (nee Lyk) Baranowski in Chicago, Illinois.

Esther is survived by her children Barbara Kolada and James (Barbara) Segal, her grandchildren Daniel, Bob, Paul, Cori, Ben, Jim, Brian, Bradley and Becky, and 6 great grandchildren.  Esther is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Casimir, daughter Patricia Lash, son in law Robert Kolada, grandson Bill and her 6 siblings, Charlotte, Lucille, Ben, George, Harry and Fran.  

Esther was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She could be counted on to always be up for a game of Uno with her grandchildren.  Esther was a fun loving and good hearted person who will be missed by all that knew her.

The family wishes to extend their eternal gratitude to the caring staff at Lifecare Nursing Center in Valparaiso who cared for Esther during her final years.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Castle Hill Funeral Home: 1219 Sheffield Avenue, Dyer, Indiana 46311 with a memorial visitation from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday, March 14, 2026 directly at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church: 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN 46311 with a visitation at 9:00 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. followed by Interment Services at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, Illinois.
